The first photo shows Carrie Pittee and Daughter Izah — You may not recognize this woman immediately, but if you’ve been on one of our ghost tours at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, you definitely know of her. The woman in this photo is Carrie Hutchinson née Pittee. Hezekiah Pittee and his family had moved down from Maine to oversee the construction of our current lighthouse. Carrie was the only one who survived, and the Pittee family moved back to Maine after the accident. Carrie went on to marry Adelbert Hutchinson and have a daughter, Izah Estilla. 📷 The second photo shows Mary, Carrie, and Eliza Pittee before the fatal accident that claimed the lives of Mary and Eliza on July 10, 1873 at the construction site of the St. Augustine Lighthouse on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine, Florida. 📍Hear...
