The late Susan Welch spent almost thirty years as Dean of the College of the Liberal Arts, and even with a demanding schedule, she never stopped making time for her own scholarship as a Professor of Political Science. In the final decade of her life, she poured herself into a book about the Holocaust.
Susan passed away on March 28, 2022, not long after submitting the manuscript. Now, thanks to her brother Robert Welch and Professor Lee Ann Banaszak, "The Hunted: The Holocaust through the Experiences of Twenty European Jews" (berghahnbooks) is finally published.
The book offers a deeply human account of the Holocaust through the testimony of twenty European Jews who survived World War II.
"This was something she was passionate about. It’s a powerful read, and there’s a lot to be learned from a historical and emotional level. I’m so grateful to all those who helped along the way to get this done." Robert shared.
