October 1 is a big day for working families in North Carolina!
Starting today, eligible state, public school, and community college employees can access up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave — giving new parents more time to bond, recover, and care for their families.
And for eligible state employees, SB 1041 also brings paid bereavement leave, at least 15 days of annual vacation, and a $31,200 minimum salary floor.
These are important steps toward a North Carolina where workers don’t have to choose between a paycheck and being there for the people they love. Thank you to Governor Stein and State Senator Corbin for being champions for this policy.
When families have the time, resources, and support they need to thrive, all of North Carolina benefits.
