Something important is happening at the intersection of AI and scientific discovery.
Harvard physicist Matthew Schwartz used Claude Fable 5 and his BootLoops toolkit to compute 30 Feynman integrals, including 15 reportedly never computed before. One previous research result that had taken weeks was reproduced in roughly 20 minutes.
But the human did not disappear. The AI required expert guidance, validation and repeated checks.
MacroSift Perspective: This is where the disruption gets interesting. AI does not have to replace the scientist. It can multiply the scientist.
Compress weeks of computational work into minutes and suddenly researchers can explore more hypotheses, run more experiments and move through the scientific search space far faster than before.
That could ultimately matter far more than another benchmark win.
