Optica is pleased to announce the offices of the 2027 Optica Vice President and 2027-2029 Director at Large. Peter J. Delfyett (creolatucf, delfyett) will serve as the 2027 Optica Vice President. An internationally recognized leader in ultrafast optics and semiconductor lasers, Delfyett has served the optics community for over four decades, including on the board of Optica and its key partner societies, IEEE and APS and as President of the National Society of Black Physicists. Sterling Backus (thorlabs) and Frédérique Vanholsbeeck (universityofauckland) will serve as 2027-2029 Directors at Large. To help Optica best meet the evolving needs of the optics community, Backus and Vanholsbeeck will bring interdisciplinary expertise in community outreach, industry and academia to the Optica Board of Directors.
