BIG WIN FOR BIG BEND! We all could use a little good news for a change: Thanks to the Center's legal work along with our allies, today a federal judge issued an emergency injunction to block border barrier and road construction across the entire Big Bend region. With this ruling, the injunction will remain in place while the court considers a lawsuit challenging the federal government's sweeping waiver of environmental laws to fast-track construction. These waivers marked the first (and hopefully last time) in U.S. history that the federal government cast aside a broad slate of environmental laws inside of a national park. We want to make it abundantly clear: NO administration has the right to destroy a national park for political theatre. While the bulldozers have been ordered to stop, our fight is not yet over.
