At the 2025 International Hunter Derby Finals, an unusually long first-round course put fitness front and center. Horses spent more than four minutes in the Rolex Arena, cantering long stretches between big, solid fences, and those advancing still needed to come back ready to perform the following night. Michael Tokaruk emphasizes that preparation for a championship like Derby Finals starts months before you walk into the ring. Horses need the stamina, scope, and confidence to answer demanding questions without sacrificing the style and quality expected from a top hunter. #theplaidhorse #theplaidcast #hunterderby #internationalhunterderby #derbyfinals #showhunters #hunters #hunterjumper #hunterring #horseshowing #equinefitness #horsefitness #horseconditioning #horsetraining #horsemanship #horseandrider #equestrian #equestrianlife #equestriansport #ourindustry
