Colorado Avalanche opening night tonight feels like a good excuse to say this: working in sports has never made me less of a sports fan. I still pinch myself when I get to work with players. I still think it’s insanely cool. And I still really cherish the chance to know the people behind what we all watch on TV. That’s especially true with the Avs. Getting to help tell Gabe's story through A Clean Sheet with Fresh Tape Media was one of those projects that reminded me why I love doing this in the first place. We got trusted with something personal, uncertain and important, and I’ll always be grateful for that. A lot of my love of sports comes from my dad. Watching games, talking about them, caring way too much — that was just part of growing up. And even after years of working around teams, athletes and big moments, that part of me is still fully there. And now I get to share the love with my daughters, and it's the best part.
