Gavin Sheets came in as a pinch-hitter with the Padres leading the Cubs 2–1 in the fourth inning of Game 2 of the Wild Card Series. With two outs and a runner on, he crushed a 100.8 mph fastball for a two-run homer, making it 4–1 Padres. The crazy part was the timing: right before his at-bat, the whole stadium was chanting “Holy Sheets!” — and then he actually hit the home run. Petco Park absolutely exploded. San Diego held on to win 4–1, sweeping the Cubs and moving on to the NLDS.
