It was October 14, 2015, and the Blue Jays were facing the Texas Rangers in a decisive Game 5. After losing the first two games, Toronto had fought back to force a winner-take-all game. The score was tied 2–2 in the seventh inning, with the entire season hanging in the balance. Then, chaos struck. Texas took a 3–2 lead after a bizarre play, but Toronto quickly fought back. Three Rangers errors gave the Blue Jays new life and tied the game at 3–3. With the stadium shaking and the pressure at its highest, José Bautista stepped into the batter’s box. Bautista crushed the pitch deep into left field. The ball disappeared into the stands, giving Toronto a 6–3 lead. He stood for a moment before launching his bat into the air—the iconic bat flip.
