Still offsetting layers one by one in After Effects 2026? There’s a faster way now.
Proportional Scrubbing just landed in After Effects BETA, and it’s a feature you’ll wonder how you lived without.
Normally, scrubbing a value with multiple layers selected applies the same change to all of them. This one splits the change based on the order you selected them:
↳ First selected layer = 0% change
↳ Last selected layer = 100% change
↳ All layers in between = spread out automatically
Cascades, spreads, and gradient-style animations that used to eat up minutes now take a single drag. No offset calculations, no repeated tweaking.
How to use it:
① Select your layers in the order you want the effect to flow (order matters)
② Hold the shortcut:
Mac → Cmd + Option
Windows → Ctrl + Alt
③ Scrub any selected property and watch the values distribute
A small update that saves a lot of time. Try it on your next cascade animation and see for yourself. 🔥
