Apple is reportedly facing a production challenge with its first foldable iPhone, as manufacturers struggle to meet its strict quality standards.
The foldable display, hinge and other components are making the device harder to produce at scale, with reported production yields only a little above 60% in September. While the launch is still reportedly on track, making enough units for day one could be a bigger challenge.
It’s a reminder that bringing a completely new form factor to market is about more than just designing it.
