“Is strength training safe for my kid?” — parents ask us this all the time.
Short answer: yes, when it’s coached right. Here’s what the research says:
❌ “Lifting stunts growth”
✅ Supervised training doesn’t affect growth (Malina, 2006) — and girls who trained kept stronger bones 3 years later
❌ “They’re too young to train”
✅ Soccer: 6.2 injuries per 100 hours. Weight training: 0.0035. Training *prevents* injuries.
❌ “Skipping the weight room is safer”
✅ Untrained female athletes: 3.6x more knee injuries
Bad training causes injuries. Not training itself.
Supervised. Well-planned. Age-appropriate. That’s how we coach at MVP.
