Do you think this is a Good Idea⁉️🤔 A new pilot project will introduce fixed Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras along Highway 401 in Waterloo Region, allowing police to automatically scan plates and identify vehicles connected to stolen vehicles, wanted persons and serious criminal investigations. Unlike the ALPR technology already used on police cruisers in cities like Ottawa, these scanners will be stationary along the highway. The pilot will initially operate at one location, and officials have indicated the technology could be expanded if the project proves successful. That means similar fixed scanners could potentially expand to other Ontario highways, including the Ottawa area, in the future, although no Ottawa expansion has been announced. Would you want these on Ottawa highways⁉️🤔⤵️ . . . . #Ontario #Ottawa #Highway401 #Highway417 #Explore
