It’s OVER for Downtown Ottawa 😰💔 Time after time, we keep seeing serious incidents in the heart of our city. At some point, we have to ask whether simply adding more police is enough, or whether Ottawa needs to do more to address homelessness, addiction, mental-health crises and the suffering happening on our streets. Early Thursday morning, an innocent woman and man were left fighting for their lives after police say they were apparently randomly stabbed downtown. Imagine being either of the victims. One was stabbed near Rideau Street and had to find an OC Transpo bus just to escape and get help. Shortly afterward, another person was allegedly attacked nearby and also left fighting for their life. Two people simply going about their lives were suddenly left fighting for them. This is starting to feel dystopian. People shouldn’t have to wonder whether walking down an alley, heading to school, catching the bus or simply being downtown could put their life at risk.
