On Friday, October 2nd, Salem State University announced that they have elevated assistant coach Anthony Martucci to head coach for the women’s ice hockey program. Martucci has been a part of the Vikings staff for the past three seasons, helping the program win a program-record for wins in a season and MASCAC wins in a single season. Prior to Salem State, Martucci built and coached the Winthrop (HS-MA) girls hockey program and turned them into one of Massachusetts’ successful programs. He guided the program to seven conference championships along with seventeen state tournament appearances. The team went undefeated in back-to-back seasons (2022, 2023), including a 36-game winning streak. Overall, Martucci finished with 227 wins with Winthrop. Martucci has had strong ties to the Salem State community with his wife and his sister each being Viking alum as well as having several nephews who graduated from the university.
