Using a retinoid but your skin hates you? Most retinoid problems come from using too much, too often, too soon. Retinol, retinaldehyde, adapalene and tretinoin all converge on the same retinoic acid receptors. The gentler ones need converting in the skin first, which makes them slower rather than useless, and adapalene is more receptor-selective, which is part of why it tends to be better tolerated. Start at the strength you can stay consistent with and give it a moisturizer that can keep up.
