🥤 Toyota just recreated one of Initial D’s most iconic driving challenges with a real AE86 and a cup of water.
⠀
The collaboration was released on October 2, Japan’s unofficial “Tofu Day,” as a direct nod to Takumi Fujiwara’s tofu-delivery runs in Initial D.
⠀
In the series, Takumi’s father places a cup of water in the AE86 and tells him not to spill it, forcing him to drive smoothly enough to control weight transfer without upsetting the car.
⠀
Toyota handed the challenge to Keizo Kato, one of its skilled employee drivers who also competes in Super Taikyu, and had him attempt the same idea in a real AE86.
⠀
It sounds simple, but keeping the water level stable through corners means being extremely precise with steering, braking and throttle inputs.
⠀
The whole stunt is basically a perfect demonstration of why smooth driving can be faster than simply throwing a car into every corner.
⠀
Would you trust yourself to drive an AE86 hard without spilling the water?

What are your thoughts? ...
