⚙️ Honda’s legendary “Cog” commercial turned the parts of an Accord into a two-minute mechanical chain reaction that took more than 600 attempts to perfect.
⠀
Instead of relying on CGI for the sequence, the crew carefully positioned genuine Accord components so each wheel, spring, exhaust piece, wiper and panel physically triggered the next.
⠀
Even the famous tires that appear to roll uphill were achieved mechanically, using weights inside the tires that shifted their center of gravity once they were nudged.
⠀
The full sequence was actually filmed in two long sections and seamlessly joined around the one-minute mark because attempting the entire chain in a single take would have been prohibitively difficult.
⠀
Released in 2003 to promote the European Honda Accord, “Cog” became one of the most celebrated automotive advertisements ever made and a perfect showcase for Honda’s obsession with engineering precision.
