This Tesla owner let his FSD subscription expire, then installed a comma four running the open-source sunnyPilot system in his Model Y instead.
⠀
The comma four connects into the car’s existing driver-assistance hardware and can provide functions like automated lane centering and adaptive cruise control while the driver remains responsible for supervising it.
⠀
Unlike Tesla’s closed software ecosystem, comma’s openpilot platform is open source, and comma four can also run community-developed forks such as sunnyPilot.
⠀
That means owners can use alternative driving models and software configurations instead of relying entirely on the automaker’s factory system.
⠀
Call it freedom or call it terrifying, but some people are literally running modified open-source driving software on public roads.
⠀
Would you trust community-developed software to help drive your car?

What are your thoughts? 🤔💭
