Colleen Slemmer’s family hoped Wednesday would bring an end to a decades-long wait for justice. Instead, Tennessee’s failed attempt to execute Christa Gail Pike has left them frustrated and facing more uncertainty. “It’s very frustrating, very draining also,” said Morgan Sealy, Slemmer’s niece. Pike was sentenced to death for Slemmer’s 1995 murder. Wednesday’s execution was called off after two doses of pentobarbital failed to end Pike’s life. She was taken to a hospital.
