Athan Kaliakmanis didn’t expect to see the field Sunday in London. The Commanders’ seventh-round rookie began the day as the third-string quarterback, with Jayden Daniels sidelined by a dislocated elbow and Marcus Mariota getting the start. That changed in the first quarter when Colts defensive lineman Laiatu Latu landed on Mariota’s right leg during a sack, forcing him out with a knee injury and pushing Kaliakmanis into his first NFL action. He took a big hit shortly after entering and popped right back up, then bounced back from an interception by hitting Treylon Burks on a 47-yard touchdown in the third quarter, the first of his career.
