Italian authorities have seized 377 exotic animals hidden inside a car at the Sicilian port of Pozzallo, including 76 specimens of protected species, the country's financial police said on Monday (October 5).⁣ ⁣ The Guardia di Finanza and customs officers intercepted a Maltese citizen transporting 300 tortoises and 77 parrots as he prepared to board a catamaran bound for Malta.⁣ ⁣ Authorities said the man kept the animals in a vehicle without adequate space or temperature controls.
