“Rosencrantz and Guildentern Are Dead” flips the script on Shakepere’s “Tragedy of Hamlet.” In our play, the titular character— Hamlet— is a more minor character. The same as his character in the original, he is a young prince plagued by existential dilemmas and inner turmoil. Hamlet's intellect is sharp, his emotions are intense, and his wit is cutting. His interactions with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern reveal his skeptical nature and his ability to see through the illusions of the world around him, adding depth to his character in this existential tragicomedy. — Anna Coffey is a junior at Northwest High School.
