The Phoenix Suns learned valuable lessons in a preseason opener that had both highs and lows, with the final low being a game-winner that delivered a 109-107 win for the Detroit Pistons. Phoenix’s first unit showed flashes in the first half, building a lead as big as 19 points while outplaying the majority of the Pistons main players.
It was missed free throws and turnovers that plagued the Suns, who were outscored, 59-39, in the second half of Monday’s game. Ultimately, preseason results are unconsequential, but Phoenix falls to 0-1 in its first of five tune ups.
