Fantasy Football Injuries: What Does the Research Say? Week 4
Swipe for 9 players: what we saw, what the injury is, and how rehab and return to play work.
Lamar Jackson: left ankle, day to day, MRI not public
Ja’Marr Chase: concussion, in protocol, day to day
Saquon Barkley: hamstring, week to week, not long term
Rashee Rice: hamstring, reports conflict, Chiefs on bye
Marcus Mariota: MCL sprain confirmed, no timetable
Pat Surtain II and Pat Bryant: ankles, MRIs avoided worst case
Tyquan Thornton: dislocated ankle, surgery, reported 12 to 16 weeks
Jaylin Lane: fractured and dislocated ankle, out for the year
A word like “tweak” or “week to week” is not a diagnosis. Grade, location and mechanism drive the timeline, and studies show wide ranges. In one study of elite sprinters, hamstring strains took a median of 16 weeks to return, range 6 to 50 [3]. That is other athletes, not a forecast for anyone here.
