Nature has been an architect's teacher for centuries. 🌿 Look closely at World Heritage sites and you'll start to see it. The branching columns of the Sagrada Família rise like a forest canopy. A spiral staircase in Vatican City curls like a nautilus shell. The roof of the Sydney Opera House echoes the ribs of a scallop. The tiled cells of Samarkand recall a honeycomb, and in Jaipur the Peacock Gate brings the bird itself into the architecture. Some of these links were intended by the designers, and others are simply striking coincidences. Which one surprises you most? 👇 This #WorldArchitectureDay, swipe to compare each World Heritage site with the natural form it recalls. 🏛️ World Heritage sites featured: ➡️ Works of Antoni Gaudí (Spain) ➡️ Vatican City (Holy See) ➡️ Sydney Opera House (Australia) ➡️ Samarkand – Crossroad of Cultures (Uzbekistan) ➡️ Jaipur City, Rajasthan (India) #WorldHeritage #Architecture #Nature
