Brooke Eby, the beloved ALS advocate and creator, has died at age 37. š
Diagnosed with ALS at 33, Brooke shared her life with the disease openly and with humor, showing people that ALS can affect anyone. She founded ALStogether, testified before the FDA, and helped raise more than $1 million for ALS research.
ALS affects the nerve cells that control voluntary muscles, making walking, talking, and swallowing harder over time. Symptoms usually start between ages 55 and 75, but they can start earlier. About 5,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed each year.
