Here are stirring images from a scintillating homecoming game as Elijah Kimble ’27 closed in on history while Canisius and St. Francis battled literally until the final seconds ticked off the new video scoreboard overlooking Koessler Field. The back-and-forth battle between the two best teams in Western New York lived up to its Game-of-the-Year billing and ended with a 32-29 St. Francis victory. The Crusaders’ home opener at the Robert J. Stransky Memorial Athletic Complex was witnessed by a standing-room-only crowd estimated in excess of 3,000 that included the always-raucous 1180bluecrew and the outstanding nardincanisiuscheer team.  Kimble had four touchdowns and 272 yards on 33 carries during another outstanding all-around performance.
