🪵🔬What’s hiding inside a piece of wood?   Environmental engineering seniors Grace Guerra and Jonas Junquera took treated wood samples into the lab and used X-ray fluorescence technology to see what’s inside, measuring elements including arsenic and chromium copper.   Working with Professor Helena Solo-Gabriele and doctoral student Loyer Muñoz, they got hands-on experience using real tools of environmental and materials engineering.
