Presented by rolex. Around 40,000 tourists visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park annually, bringing pathogens from around the world that can put the mountain gorillas who live there at risk. Veterinarian and Rolex National Geographic Perpetual Planet Explorer Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka is helping to protect these endangered primates through her pioneering One Health approach, which starts with treating the gorillas’ closest neighbors—focusing on diseases that can be transmitted between humans and animals.
Through its partnership with the National Geographic Society and as part of its Perpetual Planet Initiative,
#Rolex supports expeditions exploring and protecting remarkable places around the world, a selection of which are featured in
#AfricaEarthsWildHome.
