When the millionaire who owned the world's largest rhino herd ran out of money, the conservationists who took over responsibility for the herd in 2023 had an audacious idea: split 2,000 southern white rhinos into smaller groups and seed them across Africa. The goal is to protect them from poachers and ensure the species has the best chance of survival. While the plan is working, their mission is far from over.
