Many parents feel hesitant about giving their child ADHD medication—and it’s okay to have questions.
ADHD is not one simple disorder. After looking at more than 300,000 brain SPECT scans, we’ve found 7 different ADHD types, and they don’t all respond to treatment the same way.
That’s why I’m not for or against ADHD medication. I’m for finding the right treatment for the right child. For some children, medication may be helpful. For others, lifestyle changes, behavioral strategies, school support, therapy, or other approaches may be important parts of the plan.
The goal isn’t to rush into medication—or rule it out completely. The goal is to understand your child’s unique needs and work with a qualified healthcare professional to create a thoughtful treatment plan.
