can’t imagine how Jalen felt in this moment. 😳 Nick Saban benching Jalen Hurts at halftime of the 2018 National Championship is still one of the boldest coaching decisions college football’s ever seen. Alabama trailed Georgia 13-0 with just 89 total yards, and Saban pulled his 26-2 starter in the biggest game of the season for a true freshman who hadn’t thrown a meaningful pass all year. It paid off in historic fashion too, Tua Tagovailoa led a full comeback and delivered the walk-off touchdown in overtime, and Hurts handled the whole thing with so much class that he became the first guy cheering Tua on from the sideline. That one halftime call changed the trajectory of both quarterbacks’ careers forever. Was that the gutsiest quarterback switch any coach has ever made?
