RMS-CES sixth graders are falling into phenology and noticing seasonal changes in our community. Phenologist John Latimer visited this week and helped students identify the flora and fauna in our school forest. He began watching the rhythms of nature while delivering mail 41 years ago after a conversation about a robin with a regular on his rural mail route. He hosts a weekly radio program, KAXE, out of Grand Rapids and works with schools across the state to engage students in nature observations. It was a beautiful morning to observe, wonder, and record signs of seasonal change in our school forest and prairie. John Latimer plans to visit this coming spring for another walk in the woods with the sixth graders. #advantagerockford
