Today we celebrate 8 years of officially being Ayden’s family…but the truth is, I’ve been his mom for 11. ❤️ Before us, Ayden had already lived in 7 different foster homes. Seven. Different. Homes by age 4 😭🥺 We were number 8 and the last. I wish I could say that love magically erased everything that came before us. It didn’t. Adoption doesn’t work that way. There have been beautiful seasons and really hard ones. There have been moments when we understood each other perfectly and moments when we had to fight to understand each other at all. We’ve grown together. We’ve learned each other. We’ve frustrated each other. 😂 We’ve had hard conversations, big feelings, tears, laughter, therapy, grace, do-overs and a whole lot of love.
