If the Sun were reduced to the diameter of a human body, Earth and the Moon would become surprisingly tiny. The Sun is about 109 times wider than Earth, while the Moon is about 27% of Earth’s diameter. The real shock comes from the distances: sunlight takes about 8 minutes to reach Earth, while the Moon is only about 1.3 light seconds away. Scale models make the enormous proportions of our cosmic neighborhood much easier to visualize.
