A new open-source project called AnyPS5 is taking a fascinating approach to bringing PS5 games to Windows and Linux. Rather than trying to emulate the entire PS5 hardware environment, the project works toward turning games into programs that can run on a PC. It recreates the PlayStation system functions the games depend on while translating their graphics instructions to Vulkan. The project currently reports around 96% coverage of its tracked GPU instructions. Interestingly, many of the latest commits have been co-authored by Claude, helping contributors move through parts of the implementation much faster. It’s still very early, and running major PS5 titles reliably on PC is a long way from guaranteed. However, smaller games have already demonstrated that the underlying approach can work. It’s a fascinating example of how open-source development and AI coding tools are starting to accelerate projects that once seemed extremely difficult. What do you think? 🤔💬 👉👉Follow aiupda...
