This wingless aircraft just completed its first tiny hop, and honestly, the team looked far more excited than the aircraft itself. 🚀
The prototype uses electric ducted fans (EDFs) to push airflow directly across a jetfoil, generating lift through the Coandă effect.
Rather than relying on traditional wings, the aircraft is designed around hovering, thrust vectoring for drone-like maneuverability, and the goal of achieving airplane-style flight efficiency.
The first test was brief, lasting only around three seconds before the throttle was reduced and the aircraft came back down.
It may have been a very small flight, but it offers a fascinating look at a completely different approach to eVTOL design without conventional wings.
