Chad Gable says El Grande Americano was his idea, and it was never meant to be a comedy character. On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the Intercontinental Champion said he built the character to draw heat by insulting lucha libre culture: "It was never supposed to be like funny, you know. Entertaining, sure, but no, it was never a ha-ha funny type thing." Gable also credited Ludwig Kaiser for carrying the mask while he was out with a rotator cuff injury: "He didn't just keep it alive, he made it thrive." #WWE #ChadGable #ElGrandeAmericano #LuchaLibre #WWERaw
