ANONYMOUS PORTRAITS — MARINA PERUNKOVA “They work to build a paradise, but their paradise is inhabited by nightmares.” — Marina Perunkova In this haunting series, AI/CC Featured Artist Marina Perunkova presents anonymous figures caught between aspiration and unease — inhabitants of a world where the promise of paradise exists alongside something darker. The contradiction at the heart of the work feels distinctly contemporary. We build, improve, optimize, and pursue visions of a better life, yet the worlds we create can carry their own anxieties, pressures, and fears. By leaving her subjects anonymous, Marina shifts attention away from individual identity and toward a more universal human experience. The portraits become less about who these people are and more about the psychological world they inhabit. What happens when the paradise we work so hard to create no longer feels like paradise?
