Before Pablo Picasso became one of the artists who changed modern art, he was a remarkably skilled academic painter. At just 15, he painted Science and Charity (1897), demonstrating a command of traditional technique that many artists spend years developing. But Picasso wasn't interested in spending his career painting what had already been done. Over the following decades, he moved through the Blue and Rose Periods, challenged traditional perspective with Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, and helped develop Cubism alongside Georges Braque. He understood the conventions of painting well enough to question them. Perhaps that's what made his experimentation so radical. #billyludwig #PabloPicasso #ArtHistory #Cubism #ModernArt #ArtCollectors #GuyHepner
