Two days after the long-awaited sale of Valley West Mall closed, the Des Moines Children's Museum, a tenant at the mall for nine years, got a letter from Project 1551. Delivered by a courier Thursday, Oct. 1, the company, which is overseeing the purchase and redevelopment of the near-vacant mall for new owner Threshold Capital, told the museum it had 30 days to vacate the property. Brian Martin, president and CEO of Threshold, confirmed his company is sending eviction notices to the 17 tenants, including five retailers, that remain scattered in the mall's 138 store spaces. The only tenant not immediately affected is the mall's sole remaining anchor store, JCPenney. The terms of its lease, which Project 1551 plans to challenge in a lawsuit, allow it to remain through 2032. Tap the link in our bio for more on this story. #WestDesMoines #Iowa #DSMUSA
