A flat collar holds a name tag. A good martingale can actually do something. Once my dogs are further along in training and understand leash pressure, this is what I like to transition them to. Comfortable enough for everyday wear, but still gives me the ability to communicate when I need it. Plus, these bad boys are made in the USA!
