#Repost @blacknews ... Chinyere “Chichi” Ukeje, 25, of Northeast Philadelphia, has won NASA’s $300K first place prize in Mars to Table, an international competition within NASA’s Deep Space Food Challenge series. She created a unique system designed to feed future astronauts who will travel to Mars. She grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and spent part of high school in Nigeria. She earned a computer science degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and is now studying for a master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University. She comments, “The problem of feeding astronauts on Mars is more than just growing crops. You want them to feel at home when they are millions of miles from home.” She added that she poured herself into the project, which was administered by the Methuselah Foundation, and will use the prize money to support further food technology research. #blackgirlsrock #blackgirlmagic #blackexcellence #melanin blackwomen
