Two Romanian nationals today for swapping people's real jewelry for fake chains.⁠ ⁠ According to one victim from Valley Stream, Long Island, the man and woman asked her for directions to a BJ's Wholesale from their car. The woman then got out of the car to thank the victim and hugged her, gifting her one necklace.⁠ ⁠ As she pretended to place the new necklace on the victim's neck, she actually placed two fake ones, stealing the victim's real necklace.⁠ ⁠ After the suspects drove away, the victim realized her real necklace, which was real gold and valued at over $2,000, had been stolen. ⁠ ⁠ The suspects have also been tied to two other similar thefts on Long Island.
