Phoenix police say a suspect is in custody after a man was seriously hurt in an attack in downtown Phoenix early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to the area of Central Avenue and Monroe Street just after 2 a.m. and found a man with at least one wound. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Witnesses told Arizona’s Family they were eating at Cornish Pasty when the man ran up to the restaurant and collapsed, and bystanders called 911.
Officers found a suspect and took him into custody. Police have not identified him and are still working to determine what led up to the attack. Monroe Street was closed from Central Avenue to First Avenue during the investigation, and light rail traffic was affected.
The victim’s condition has not been updated.
