He took his guitar around the world, but Phoenix was home. Remembering Arizona’s “King of Strings,” Carvin Jones 🕊️🎸 The beloved blues guitarist passed away September 20 at 60. Born in Lufkin, Texas, he discovered the blues through his grandfather’s B.B. King records and received his first guitar from his grandmother at just seven years old. That childhood passion became a career spanning 37 countries, with performances alongside B.B. King, Santana and Jeff Beck. He was known for stepping offstage and playing right in the crowd, making the audience part of the show. But his impact on the Valley went far beyond music. Carvin sponsored and coached youth basketball teams. During the pandemic, he started Carvin Cares, using his own money to deliver groceries to elderly Phoenix residents. His family thanked everyone who supported him during his final months, remembering a man whose love for people shaped his life both onstage and off. Rest peacefully, Carvin. Thank you for the music ...
