A wild jaguar keeps showing up on cameras in Southern Arizona ๐๐ต
His name is Cinco, and heโs the fifth jaguar documented in Arizona since 2011. Researchers first spotted him in November 2025 and have recorded more than 20 detections since, including footage from August 18 and 20.
Scientists can tell him apart by his unique markings, which work almost like a fingerprint. All five jaguars documented here since 2011 have been males.
Jaguars once roamed as far north as the Grand Canyon before hunting and habitat loss nearly wiped them out in the U.S. Now, conservationists warn that border wall construction could cut off routes they use to move between Mexico and Arizona.
Did you know Arizona still had wild jaguars? ๐
