The NFL has suspended line judge Jeff Seeman two games for unprofessional conduct toward Cardinals tight end Trey McBride.
The league confirmed the penalty Monday, a day after cameras caught Seeman cursing at McBride late in Arizona’s 36-24 loss to the Giants. With just under five minutes left, no flag was thrown when New York’s Dru Phillips made contact with McBride before a Jacoby Brissett pass arrived on a third-and-2. McBride argued the no-call, and the exchange with Seeman followed.
NFL Vice President of Officiating Ramon George issued the suspension. Seeman has been an NFL official since 2002.
The NFL Players Association had called the behavior unacceptable on Sunday, and executive director JC Tretter said the union expects officials to be held to the same standard as players. The league announced its decision less than 24 hours later.
Referee Adrian Hill was also suspended one game for a separate incident with a player in the Miami-Minnesota game.
